Professor Leslie Chew, SC is a Consultant at Peter Low Chambers. With a prolific career spanning some 45 years of legal experience, Professor Chew has spent seven years in the judiciary as a Senior District Judge and has the distinction of being appointed Senior Counsel by the Supreme Court – Singapore’s equivalent of the Queen’s Counsel in England – in 2000. Professor Chew’s main practice area is at the Commercial Bar. Professor Chew is an Advocate & Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore in 1981. He is also a Solicitor of England & Wales. Professor Chew is an accomplished commercial arbitrator and has practiced as an arbitrator and arbitration counsel since 1993. He has written on Medical Law, Arbitration and Technology.
Gregory Vijayendran’s present practice encompasses a specialisation in litigation, arbitration and mediation of commercial disputes and chancery matters. He is also recognised expert in insolvency and restructuring as well as charities governance. Gregory has given expert witness testimony for overseas court proceedings. Gregory was appointed Senior Counsel in 2019. He has also been appointed as a Fellow of the Insolvency Practitioners Association of Singapore, the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators and the Singapore Institute of Directors.
Paul is presently a senior lecturer in the School of Law at Singapore University of Social Sciences. He taught the Wills, Probate and Administration, Criminal Law, Procedure and Evidence as well as Trial Advocacy Courses. In addition, he is Of Counsel at Kalidass Law Corporation. Previously, as a Legal Service Officer, he had served as a Deputy Public Prosecutor, Assistant Official Assignee, Assistant Official Receiver, Assistant Public Trustee and a Senior Assistant Director of the Insolvency and Public Trustee’s Office, Ministry of Law. Thereafter, he also served as a Principal Prosecuting Officer and Senior Assistant Director of Ministry of Manpower.
Jenny has been involved in forensic accounting investigations since 2002. She has worked on numerous business interruption and fidelity losses of various scopes and sizes for lawyers and insurers in the Asia Pacific region. Jenny is also regularly appointed on commercial litigation disputes measuring economic losses/damages in breach of contract/tort and fraud investigations as well as analytical reviews of financial information, financial data mining, reconstruction of accounting records, and reconciliatory processes. She has also been involved in the valuation of business assets and equity for use in business planning, financing decisions and financial reporting. In terms of Court experience, Jenny has been involved in the preparation of expert accounting evidence and expert witness reports since 2004 for mediation, arbitration and trial on behalf of defendants and claimants on a wide variety of disputes. She has acted as an expert in commercial litigation disputes and submitted expert reports on the measurement of economic losses/damages. She has also provided expert witness testimony in Court; and assisted in mediation and settlement negotiations between parties. Jenny has prepared and presented in seminars, both physical and Webinars, to legal and insurance clients in Singapore and across Asia on various topics including economic losses assessments, business interruption, delayed loss of profits and fraud investigations.
Darren received his Bachelor of Architecture degree with First Class Honours from the University of Adelaide, Australia in 1995, and registered with the Board of Architects, Singapore in 2001. In respect of architectural practice, Darren is also a Registered Inspector for fire safety, a Design-for Safety Professional/trainer and a Universal Design Assessor. Since 1996 Darren has resided in Singapore, and he is currently Managing Director of the architectural practice VivATA Pte Ltd and served as an elected member of the Board Of Architects, Singapore, for the 2023/24 term. Darren is also involved in the Singapore Institute of Architects, including election to Council from 2007 to 2021. He has actively participated in various SIA committees, including the Building Contracts Committee as well as the Architectural Practice Committee and ADR Committee (which he also chaired at various stages). Darren is listed on SIA's panels of Arbitrators and Expert Determinators. In respect of construction law and alternative dispute resolution, Darren served on the Council of the Society of Construction Law (Singapore), including as chairman for the 2014-15 term. Darren is also a Fellow of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators, and attained the Graduate Certificate in International Arbitration from NUS in 2011. Darren has acted as an Expert Witness in various arbitration, litigation and strata-title-board matters. He is pleased and honoured to be elected to the APIEx Committee for the 2025/26 term.
Jonathan Ellis is a partner at HKA and is based in the Singapore office. He specialises in the quantification of damages and valuations, in particular in dispute contexts. He has worked on matters before the UK and Singapore High Courts as well as in ad hoc, SIAC, LCIA, ICC, HKIAC, UNCITRAL and ICSID arbitration forums. He has provided oral testimony on a number of occasions, in both court and arbitration, and has been engaged as a tribunal appointed expert. Since 2017, Jonathan has been recognised among the leading arbitration expert witnesses worldwide by Who's Who Legal, where he has been classified as a “Global Elite Thought Leader” and a “National Leader” in the inaugural Southeast Asia Arbitration list.
John has been in the Marine Industry for 50 year and was at sea for twenty years as an engineer before joining Brookes Bell in 1996. He is a Chartered Engineer, with a Master’s degree, and in 2001 John became a partner at Brookes Bell. An expert in his field, John uses his extensive consultancy and investigative experience to provide comprehensive assessments of marine and offshore casualties and disputes. The type of investigations John conducts are as diverse as they are thorough. John has provided technical evidence for court proceedings and arbitration around the world on diverse marine engineering topics including advice to owners and shipyards on new build and shipyard disputes. He was both witness of fact and the marine engineer expert in a high profile fraud case on behalf of the insurers of BRILLIANTE VIRTUOSO. From 2012 he was based in Singapore, having set up the Brookes Bell office there, and oversaw their three Asia offices until recently. John was seconded to Houston to oversee the start of Brookes Bell’s expansion into the US region before returning to Singapore. John continues to be involved in marine and offshore casualty investigations and acting as an expert witness. John is also a supporting member of the LMAA, a member of SCMA and a Fellow and founding member of APIEx here in Singapore.
Cher Hui is a seasoned tax academic and author with over 25 years of experience in taxation and business consulting across various jurisdictions including Singapore, Australia and China. She is currently an independent advisor specializing in tax due diligence, tax policy research and tax dispute adjudication support. Cher Hui also serves on the Executive Committee of the International Fiscal Association (IFA, Singapore branch) and is also its Honorary Secretary. She is also the Singapore representative for the ‘‘Women-of-IFA-Network’’ (WIN) for IFA, which is headquartered in The Netherlands. Cher Hui is an Accredited Tax Advisor (Income Tax), Singapore Chartered Tax Professionals (SCTP) and is also appointed by the Ministry of Finance as a member of the Income Tax Board of Review in Singapore.
Iain Potter is a Chartered Accountant, qualified in both the UK (ICAEW) and Singapore (ISCA), specialising in complex loss of profit and valuation engagements and he has been based in Singapore since 2014. Iain is recognised as a leading expert by Who’s Who Legal, with clients praising his "matter-of-fact approach to drafting reports and giving testimony", adding that "He is a fantastic expert witness for quantum, valuation and forensic accounting." Outside of his expert appointments, Iain is a member of the adjunct faculty at the National University of Singapore’s Business School, where he lectures on damages quantum and business valuation disputes. He is also pursuing a number of lines of research, currently including a PhD focusing on the extent to which awards of damages reflect risk and uncertainty.
Er. Dr. Tan is a Chartered Engineer (UK) and a Singapore registered Professional Engineer (Civil). He is a Fellow of several institutions, including the Institution of Engineers (Singapore), the Institution of Civil Engineers (UK), the Asia-Pacific Institute of Experts, and the Singapore Society of Project Managers. In his career, he has worked in the academia where he lectures, conducts research, provides consultancy especially in the field of concrete and structural engineering, and in the industry as a practitioner. He has served as an expert witness in construction disputes and failures. He was a council member in the Institution of Engineers Singapore and a Board Member in the Professional Engineers Board Singapore.
Geoff is a Chartered Accountant and former registered liquidator, a Fellow and former National Board member of ARITA, and a member of the BFSLA Conference Planning committee. As External Relations Liaison for Australia he is working to establish an Australian Chapter of APIEx. He has significant banking experience with ANZ and NAB, and has given evidence to Senate and Joint Parliamentary Inquiries in Australia. He now works providing debt advisory/finance broking advice and acting as an expert in banking and financial restructuring matters. He has been engaged as an expert in more than 30 matters providing sole reports, joint reports and giving evidence concurrently; and his evidence has been accepted accepted without challenge (other than for admissibility), or preferred/adopted, in the Federal Court of Australia, Victorian Supreme Court, NSW Supreme Court, NSW Land and Environment Court, and the Singapore International Court.
