3 December 2023
That's a wrap! We have finished the Asia Pacific Institute of Experts (APIEx) events for 2023.
As the year comes to a close, we look back at our last event the APIEx Symposium 2023. The annual symposium explored the dispute resolution process in both arbitration and litigation and the ethical concerns for experts.
Following the keynote address by Justice Kannan Ramesh of the Singapore Supreme Court (see comments below for link to address), the symposium launched into two panel sessions.
Leslie Chew (President of APIEx) moderated the first panel session around dispute resolution, which drew on the deep experience of Alvin Chang (from Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS)), James Nicholson (from FTI Consulting) and Dorcas Quek Anderson (from School of Law, Singapore Management University).
Following a short refresher of Asia Pacific Institute of Experts (APIEx)'s code of conduct by Jonathan Ellis (from HKA), Gregory Vijayendran (vice president of APIEx) moderated a panel of Anne Connolly (from Ankura) and Chuan Tat Yeo (from Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS)) - touching on the ethical considerations of expert evidence.
The afternoon session was a work shop, focusing on cross examination of experts, training both experts and lawyers in a financial case study. Francis Goh, marshalled the The Law Society of Singapore's Advocacy team to expertly run the sessions. We thank Francis and his trainers:
Senthil Dayalan, Chenthil Kumarasingam, Joseph W W Liow, Darrell Kim Boon Low, Steven Lam and Lawrence Tan (FCIArb).
Wishing everyone a very good end to the year and the APIEx events for 2024 will be announced in due course.
